At the 78th National Alpha Tau Omega Congress in Louisville, Kentucky the men of the University of Maryland were recognized as the Top Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega in the nation. Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity has over 140 chapters across the country and it is a very big honor for the Epsilon Gamma Chapter to be recognized as the best for 2008. This is the second time Maryland received this honor in the past three years, having also been recognized as the Top Chapter at the 77th Congress in Austin, Texas in 2006.
"It is an extremely great honor to be presented with this award. This was a complete chapter effort and we have worked so hard to be the best chapter we can be. It is a great feeling to be able to take this award back to Maryland", said Chapter President Mike Zarro after receiving the award.
The members of the Epsilon Gamma Chapter were also a True Merit Chapter, received the Bronze Communication Award, were recognized as the top Roadshow Chapter in the Green Region, and received Excellence Awards in Recruitment, New Member Education, Ritual, Finance, Scholarship, and Leadership Development.
The Epsilon Gamma would like to thank everyone who has made this possible, from our great alumni, Board of Trustees, support staff, family, & friends. We look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in the upcoming school year.
